Simplification[edit]

辞 is certainly a simplification of . One subtlety though: was confused with 辭 and then only 辭 was simplified to 辞, or were both 辭 and 辤 simplified to 辞?

I.e., did 辤 fall out of use and then only 辭 was simplified (辭 + 辤 → 辭 → 辞), or were they used together as confused variants, and then consolidated in simplification (辭 + 辤 → 辭 + 辤 (confused) → 辞)?

Admittedly rather hair-splitting, but may as well get right.
