Citation of Etymology

According to the article, 80% of the Korean Hanja words, including this 교통(交通), comes from Japanese word. [[1]] Shouldn't we have Japanese-Korean etymology template? --Carl Daniels 23:29, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes, although these words are still Sino-Korean (as that term is used), so we need a way to do justice to both aspects. I've tweaked the etymology a little; see what you think.

Unfortunately the source you cite appears to be just a blog posting, not actual reportage: "이 기사는 네티즌, 전문가, 기자가 참여한 <블로그> 기사로 한겨레의 입장과 다를 수 있습니다." It's almost certainly true in this case, but the source leaves much to be desired. It would be great to have this information for all such words, if an authoritative source can be found. But etymological relationships among the CJK languages are quite messy, and I haven't yet found a suitable reference for the actual origin of most Sino-Korean words. -- Visviva 02:58, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
