Is what has happened to the people of the gulf area a modern day diaspora?
Yes at least two authors in 10/31/05 USA Today:
"More than 1 million displaced Americans have been spread across all 50 states, creating a diaspora greater than the 1930s Dust Bowl."
Kashmiri diaspora followed the outbreak of armed struggle in 1989. Kashmiris are largely a stagnant population (except for a small trading section) reluctant to undertake short journey's within the valley.
