I'ven't and friends [edit]

I'ven't, you'ven't, he'sn't, she'sn't, we'ven't, and (anticipatorily) they'ven't and one'sn't. These look like the results of bad scans of books. Equinox 22:51, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yup:
I’ven’t
we’ven’t
you’ven’t
he’sn’t
she’sn’t,
and, indeed,
they’ven’t
and you forgot
it’sn’t;
but not
*one’sn’t,
nor the archaisms
*thou’stn’t and *ye’ven’t.
— All visible, so they cannot be explained away as scannos. The three inextant forms are telling; this phænomenon is restricted to informal and dialectal forms of English.

Okay then; striking. Equinox 00:11, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
