As a native French speaker (living in Saint-Cloud!), I find web hits convincing (but never heard it myself, as far I can remember). If (only if) mercy bucket and silver plate are kept, I feel it should be kept, too. But in which language? It is supposed to be English, and mercy bucket and silver plate are supposed to be French...
