Pronouns

[edit]

Vietnamese is a bit different than Romance languages, in that Vietnamese doesn't just use different pronouns for casual or formal situations, but Vietnamese actually uses different pronouns depending on the relation between the speaker and his/her audience. This relation takes gender, age, and status into account. I'd like to suggest that each language already listed just notes "(casual)" and "(formal)" after each translation, instead of referring to pseudo-definitions. This way, the page won't have to have at least 20 different definitions just to accomodate Vietnamese. – Minh Nguyễn 22:32, 13 Jan 2004 (UTC)

I understand Japanese does this too, maybe not with 20 different forms. I'll change the entry so it doesn't have pseudo-definitions anymore.Polyglot 23:14, 13 Jan 2004 (UTC)
