French - Assister[edit]
If you follow the link to the french word 'assister', you will find out it means to attend, and not to help... so the statement "From french assister, from latin assistere both meaning to assist." is false. Palludan 08:54, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Assist also has the English archaic meaning of attend. In Portuguese, the specific word for attending a play or theatrical piece is assistir.
Translations of English noun[edit]
The sense under which, as of now, all the given translations of the English noun are listed,
- “statistical recognition of making a pass”,
