I suspect (warning - folk etymology) that def. 2 (clueless) comes from a conflation of the Aussie "baffed" - hit about the head with a large stick - and "baffled". But then I thought "-faced" must come from the Scottish "fashed", so what do I know? Any really expert etymologists out there?D A Patriarche (talk) 21:24, 20 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
