Pronunciation[edit]

I've lived in Alaska, Florida, and New York, and I have never heard of anyone pronouncing "calm" as [kɑːm]. I've always pronounced it as [kɔːlm]. Where did the current pronunciation come from? - unsigned by 206.174.3.88 on 23:46, 31 October 2007

Apparently, dictionary.com says that [kɑːm] is the orthodox pronunciation, and [kæm] is older. Pronunciations with [l] are considered "spelling pronunciations". Personally, I've said [kɑɫm] all my life. - Gilgamesh 22:00, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
