Another sense of "coherent" is intelligible, meaningful. If someone accuses an idea of being incoherent, they don't necessarily mean that it is contradictory; they could mean that it is unintelligible, incomprehensible, etc., without strictly being contradictory. Take a meaningless sentence like "Green ideas sleep." It isn't obviously contradictory, but it makes sense to call it incoherent 60.225.114.230 09:48, 25 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
