Talk:crave

My dictionary gives a second definition as "(formal) to ask seriously for something" e.g. "May I crave your pardon?" A strict Google search only shows up two results - "May I crave your pardon?". A less strict search leads me to believe it's not only a formal usage but an archaic one, dating back to Shakespearean times, e.g. "I then crave pardon of your Majesty." (source).
