This etymology is beyond fanciful! Surely "craythur" is just the Irish pronunciation of "creature." Whisky is, if you like, a "creature comfort" -- or else it too is one of God's "craythurs".
- Just based on the Greek it's alleged to be cognate with, it's clearly wrong (and distillation doesn't go back to the Iron Age, anyway), so I deleted it. Other dictionaries trace it to some variant of creature. Chuck Entz (talk) 13:45, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
