Pennsylvanian Dutch is a misnomer, it's actually from Pennsylvanian Deutsch, German extraction not Dutch. Etymology should be fixed. JillianE 19:42, 25 December 2005

I changed the linkage to Pennsylvania Dutch (not Pennsylvanian Dutch which was actually the d. template for Dutch, which added the Dutch derivation). Made it the German derivation category. JillianE 00:51, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the fact that it is from the Pennsylvania Deutsch dialect. The actual word it originates from is doppich. People in Lancaster have changed the word over the years and it now has an l sound; doplic. The word in Lebanon County is dopic, which is closer to the real word.
