Russian чайник[edit]
In Russian ча́йник (literally teapot) is used to describe person who behave like "an unintelligent person" because he is only beginner in this area, but (may be, but no necessarily) already thinks that he is quite cool. It is not "an unintelligent person" it is quite different story. Translation dummy as чайник came because the book series "[Any subject] for Dummies" were translated as "[Any subject] для чайников". It is very good translation in this case, but generally you can not say Dummy (as unintelligent person) = чайник. I do not know how to change the article to fix it, so I just leave it here, hoping that it will be useful, and may be somebody will manage to do something.
