There should really be a distinction between the two different ways one can say it: go-TEE and GOAT-ee. I would do it myself, but I don't know IPA. Tooironic 12:52, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As a long-time wearer of facial hair, my opinion is that a goatee is the tuft of hair just below the lower lip and that a Van Dyke beard is at the center of the chin generally combined with a moustache. Dick Kimball 17:52, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
