This entry gives the false impression that "have another think coming" is the original phrase. The saying "If you think that, you have another think coming" is a play on words based on the original "have another thing coming". 203.73.236.9 04:32, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe "have another think coming" is the original phrase, from either Alice in Wonderland or Through the Looking Glass, a play on her saying she thinks something. Tormod 15:20, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The phrase "have another think" dates from before 1867. It appeared in Tom Sawyer not long after. Maybe that should be an entry. DCDuring TALK 02:04, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As a native speaker of English, I have never heard "another think coming", only "another thing coming". Indeed, the former phrase sounds downright strange to me. ---> Tooironic (talk) 03:13, 18 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
In fluent speech the two will sound similar, if not identical. So there may have been people saying "think" and you heard it as "thing", because that was the only version of the phrase you knew. --83.216.80.48 08:57, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
