IPA Pronunciation[edit]

IPA pronunciation? — This unsigned comment was added by Starprizm (talkcontribs) at 14 February 2012.

I dunno, probably /kɪɹiɑː(r)ki/. Mglovesfun (talk) 10:51, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The current IPA pronunciation for US English has been put down as ˈkɪɹɨɑɹkiː. I cannot believe this is right as US English does not have a close central unrounded vowel (i.e. /ɨ/) as one of its phonemes. I will presently change this to ˈkɪɹiɑɹkiː, replacing the /ɨ/ with an /i/, which is the closest phoneme in US English. I recognize, however, that this may somehow be incorrect.

I am positive, however, that the initial /k/ must be /kh/, as this is English.
