Talk:light globe

A quick search of Sainsbury's Homebase and Robert Dyas turned up nothing under this name. A google search turned up the second sense mentioned. I am taking it on faith that "light globe" is in common use somewhere. If so, the region of usage should be noted, and if "light bulb" is peculiar to American English that too should of course be noted.

Given that "light globe" has the added sense of "pretty light-toy", it is not a true synonym of "light bulb," which lacks that sense. Thus the restructuring

In Australia at least the terms are 100% interchangable but to me bulb sounds a little American. Having just played with Google though, I got hits in the UK and US for "light globe" but only a tiny fraction compares to "light bulb". In AU though it was 10,700 for bulb and 3,430 for globe. "Light globe" barely turned up in NZ at all. So it seems "globe" is more Australian than I always thought and "bulb" is less American than I thought. None of the light globe packages I can find here have either term on them and a Welsh friend says he never heard "light globe" before moving to Australia but finds it to be the more common term over here.
