Is the litre actually an SI unit? The Wikipedia page on SI units (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SI) suggests that it is but it is not listed on the Wikipedia page on SI derived units (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SI_derived_unit). -- Paul G 13:23, 12 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Found the answer to this in the Wikipedia on "litre". It is not an SI unit but is sanctioned for use alongside SI units. I have removed it from the list but added an appropriate note to the Wiktionary entry.
