English pronunciatory transcriptions[edit]

I could not find an authority that listed pronunciations for mactate, so I transcribed it myself as /mækˈteɪt/, based upon lactate (/lækˈteɪt/ in the OED [2nd Ed.; 1989]), with which it is strongly analogous: (deprecated template usage) lactate derives from (deprecated template usage) lactāt-, the past-participial stem of the Latin first-conjugation verb lactō, whereas (deprecated template usage) mactate derives from (deprecated template usage) mactāt-, the past-participial stem of the Latin first-conjugation verb mactō.  (u):Raifʻhār (t):Doremítzwr﴿ 13:49, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
