The word 'militants' has also been used in the English language for labor organizers and union activists since the 19th century.

Agreed, there is a missing UK sense - did "Militant Tendency" finish it off? I assume (from your spelling) that the same sense is or was prevalent in the US? Dbfirs 20:28, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
