(Could the root also be related to the PIE root of Greek "Polis" - 'tpelh'/'ptolis'? similar to PIE 'pelh' - 'pool/pole'/'marsh' depending on dialectal changes and local uses. Could also modern 'temple' come from 't(m)pelh', combining 'temno-pelh' 'I cut/sacrifice (at this) place' and 'tpelh/ptolis' referring to 'gathering people', or rather be the cause of the difference between 'temple' and 'polis' both with references to 'gathering people' but one reserved for spiritual purposes and the other for mundane purposes?
