Anyone fancy trying to cite the {{eye dialect of|purpose}} sense and then adding it? --Mglovesfun (talk) 15:32, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation[edit]

I've only heard the one with the schwa, and that's the only in Chambers. What's the source for the second syllable we now have? Equinox 14:44, 8 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's a nine year old addition by ScsRhymeBot (talkcontribs). Could be a pure error. I'll look into it, it should just take a few minutes to check a couple of dictionaries. Renard Migrant (talk) 14:50, 8 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's fine, loads of dictionaries have it. The Shorter Oxford English Dictionary (1993) has /-əs/ and /-ɔɪs/ while US dictionaries online only have /-əs/. Renard Migrant (talk) 14:56, 8 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
