Talk:task

I believe, from checking other online sources (e.g. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/task) that etymologically, the verb "task' is a synonym for 'tax' and is (or was) correctly used in the sense of "taxing my patience" although "he tasks me" was sufficient to make one's meaning clear. I also believe, without any sources whatever, that the meaning "to assign a job to" is management-speak from "verbing" the noun. 70.112.186.143 21:34, 5 May 2010 (UTC) Eric

Yep, they are related. There's an Old French word tasque. Equinox 21:35, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
