Definitions 1 and 3[edit]

Would it be worth noting that definitions 1 and 3 only apply to the old meaning of 'vain' (namely 'futile'), not the current meaning of 'vain' ('narcissitic').

As in the famous 'vanity, vanity, all is vanity' (ie. 'purposeless, pointless, everything is futile') - the start of Ecclesiastes.
