Usage

This template may be used in "References" and "Further reading" sections, and on talk pages, to provide a citation to the Macmillan English Dictionary website.

Parameters

• |lang= – mandatory in some cases: to cite only the American version or the British version of the Dictionary, specify |lang=US or |lang=UK respectively.
• |1= or |entry=, and |entry_uk= – use these parameters as follows:
  • If citing both the American and British versions of the Dictionary, or only one version, use |1= or |entry= to specify the entry. If the parameter is not specifed, the template uses the name of the Wiktionary entry.
  • If citing both the American and British versions of the Dictionary and the entry names in the versions are spelled differently, use |entry_uk= to specify the entry in the British version.
• |2= or |url= – if the default URL is not linking to the correct webpage in the American version of the Dictionary, use this parameter to indicate the URL of the webpage to be linked to.
• |3= or |url_uk= – if the default URL is not linking to the correct webpage in the British version of the Dictionary, use this parameter to indicate the URL of the webpage to be linked to.
• |4=, |text=, or |passage= – a passage quoted from the website.
• |nodot= – by default, the template adds a full stop (period) at the end of the citation. To suppress this punctuation, use |nodot=1 or |nodot=yes.

Citing either the American version or the British version only

• Wikitext: {{R:Macmillan|lang=US|entry=color}}
