This template generates a single line of text displaying a rank of "most common English words".

Usage

Simply place this template near the bottom of the English section, under a “Statistics” header, just before “Anagrams” (see Template talk:rank#Placement for discussion), with eight unnamed parameters, as follows:

  1. The first three parameters are the three words immediately less common than the current word.
  2. The fourth parameter is the numerical position in commonality of the current word.
  3. The fifth parameter is the current word.
  4. The last three parameters are the three words immediately commoner than the current word.

Example

The ranks has been determined from word frequencies in texts from Gutenberg project; see also Wiktionary:Frequency lists#Project Gutenberg.

The number of words that use this template is around 1000.

The first hundred items:
