This page contains usage information, categories, interwiki links and other content describing the template.

Usage[edit]

Used to create links to the Wikipedia page for a species' common (vernacular) name when there is not yet an entry here on Wiktionary for the common name.

When the template is used as intended, it categorizes the common name in Category:Entries missing English vernacular names of taxa. When the template is misused, when the linked term has a page in Wiktionary, the page the template is used on is categorized in Category:Entries with redundant template: vern.
