It should not be re-entered without careful consideration.
@Dan Polansky Template:cs-imperfective form of should be deleted and rewritten as {{imperfective form of|cs|...}}, which is the same length but avoids a special language-specific template. Template:cs-perfective form of should also be removed; for one thing it doesn't do what it claims to do, but simply redirects to Template:cs-imperfective form of. - Deprecate rather than delete to keep page histories legible: rather widely used. Deprecation works and is controlled by repeated emptying of Category:Pages using deprecated templates, which currently has 6 pages. --Dan Polansky (talk) 08:30, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
- This is used on 272 pages. Deprecation doesn't come for free; it imposes a significant overhead on template maintainers, as it means the modules on which the code is based must continue to support the template in question, potentially indefinitely. If we are going to deprecate templates, we need to choose the number N of page uses above which we consider deprecation as an option, below which we always delete (as the pain of maintenance isn't worth the gain from legible page histories). {{term}}. The above stated burdens are largely imaginary, as experience shows; the templates under discussion did not generate any such burdens. I am fascinated by the arrogant ruthlessness of the person (which was not Ben Wing) who deleted so many templates out of process and which resulted in severely impaired legibility of revision histories of this very Wiktionary. --Dan Polansky (talk) 10:34, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
