Remove that dot after Appendix:Japanese verbs, please, it bugs me xD--Dixtosa (talk) 13:26, 8 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Dixtosa It seems like you have the power to do it yourself now :p —suzukaze (tc) 11:35, 12 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

alternative 未然形 and 連用形[edit]

@Suzukaze-c In 学校文法, The 未然形 and 連用形 of modern 五段 verbs (e.g. 書か, 書き) have variant forms (e.g. 書こう, 書いて), which are usually included in verb paradigms. Should we include them in the "stem forms" section of our verb conjugation tables?

(By the way, I don't like the 学校文法 analysis of verb morphology. 書こう should be kak-oo, not ka·ko-u.) --Dine2016 (talk) 15:17, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I did so in my attempt to write a Japanese verb inflection module. (I've moved it off-wiki) —Suzukaze-c 06:35, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Table size of the template is uneven with collapsible box[edit]

The {{ja-verbconj-auto}} table does not align with collapsible box
Comparison with {{ja-conj-bungo}} table, which is almost aligned

@Dine2016, Huhu9001, Suzukaze-c, and others not mentioned, long standing issue here. This happened on Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Edge on a Windows 10. Not sure about other platforms.

Request a fix?

The companion {{ja-conj-bungo}} template does almost aligns with the collapsible box. ~ POKéTalker19:23, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I may be the wrong person to ping for HTML/CSS issues. --Dine2016 (talk) 04:19, 30 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Poketalker: I know how to do it but I can not edit the page. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯-- Huhu9001 (talk) 07:14, 30 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't use Chrome, and I can't be bothered to install it. It looks fine on Firefox for me. What's the fix? —Suzukaze-c 00:33, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Suzukaze-c: I've given it in the link above. (the "[1]", maybe too small to notice?) By the way, I am also using Firefox, but the unalignment is visible to me. Did you use custom CSS or something?
This is the fix, posted again, if you want -- Huhu9001 (talk) 03:31, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, my window was just too small, so I didn't see that the problem appears in Firefox as well orz

@Suzukaze-c: looks good! {{ja-adj-infl}} still suffers from this issue though. Hope that template will be the last one. ~ POKéTalker11:40, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Terminology[edit]

Should "Imperfective" be replaced with "Irrealis"? W. P. Uzer (talk) 08:05, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

To elaborate and expand on this: the conjugation table uses different terms for three of the inflectional categories than those used or mentioned on the corresponding linked info pages.
  • 未然形 is labeled Imperfective, but (未然形) calls it the irrealis form, alternately the "-nai form" and the "a-stem".
  • 終止形 is labeled Terminal, but 終止形 calls it the conclusive form.
  • 仮定形 is labeled Hypothetical, but 仮定形 calls it the conditional form, alternately the "e-stem".
This can be confusing, as it can create the impression one misclicked on the wrong item.
