Too small[edit]

Could this template be blown up somewhat in size? In hanzi articles, it's so small that it could tend to be overlooked. Badagnani 02:54, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it is possible to increase the size of font used within the template. However, we want to be careful with this one, because browser configurations can vary widely. What shows up as small on your browser is actually pretty large on my browser. Question, what type of web browser are you using? What size font does your browser default to?

Good point. I'm actually on a borrowed computer the past few days with a huge monitor! Scratch my previous comment. Badagnani 19:57, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why right-hand side?[edit]

I would like to ask why put the template on the right-hand side? Wouldn't it be better to be on the left?--Jusjih 08:15, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I decided to put it on the right hand side, so that it would fill up the blank area to the right of the table of contents. This does not apply to cases where there is a Japanese equivalent (because of Template:ja-kanjitab).

Fonts[edit]

Have you heard of different fonts in Red China and Taiwan? If you go to zh:共匪, you will see the difference of fonts.--Jusjih 13:04, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your point, there are differences between the fonts used to represent zh-cn or zh-tw encodings. This is something that I put into Template:zh-forms. I left it out of this template since this template only includes one copy of the phrase. I suppose if the difference were big enough, the best solution would be to use the Template:zh-forms template instead. You would have to repeat the same characters twice. So, instead of zh-hanzi, you would use zh-forms:

Template:zh-hanzi-box

Template:Hani-forms

However, I'm not sure that this small of a difference would be noticed by the average western reader.

This would be more significant:

Template:Hani-forms

as opposed to:

Template:zh-hanzi-box

This is why I always repeat in both shapes at Chinese Wiktionary, but if you think that Western readers may not notice the differences that much, I will not challenge the use of Template:zh-hanzi
