Etymology[edit]

From German Low German Titte (nipple”, “breast), from Middle Low German. Akin to German Zitze and English tit, teat. The word is not a loanword from English, but its frequent use and wide spread in contemporary colloquial German and youth slang may have been encouraged by English tit.
