Definition from Wiktionary, a free dictionary
[edit] Arabic
Shukran (Arabic: شكراًَ) is an Arabic expression meaning thanks or "thank you".
- "Shukran jazeelan" means "Thank you very much".
- "Alfu shukrin wa shukrun" means "One thousand thanks and (a) thank you" or " 1001 thanks".
- Muslims sometimes use the alternative Islamic phrase jazakallahu khayran, meaning "may Allah reward you for the good".
- "Afwan" means "You're welcome".
- "La shukra ala wajib" literally translates to "No thanks should be given for what is considered an obligation" and is another kind way to say "you're welcome". It is akin to "don't mention it", or "don't worry about it", in colloquial English.
