From Early Awen *faor, from Proto-Lyndian *þaor (four), possibly from earlier form *tador, *tatwor, from an Anatolian language (compare Lycian teteri), from Proto-Indo-European *kʷetwṓr, neuter form of *kʷetwóres. Cognates include Modern Basque laur (laur), lau (lau).
