March 2003: I'm off on a long holiday in the USA and Canada... I won't have workable internet access until the end of June, so I'll see you when I get back. I expect to see at least 50,000 entries by then! lol KJ 11:50 Mar 21, 2003 (UTC)
I found the wiktionary by clicking on the shiny new link in the wikipedia... it seems like a good idea but I have to say that the more times I click that random button, the more words I find that I've never heard of in my life, and the more stupid and illiterate I feel! Maybe somebody can explain in words of 2 syllables or less what it is we're actually trying to do here, and then I'll know how I can help (other than by proof-reading and correcting other people's typos). Right now I'm afraid to try to contribute anything because I don't understand what standard is expected :)
Okay... now I know what's going on around here and it's DEFINITELY a good idea. I'm trying to do what I can as a monolingual Australian-english-speaker. Ironically, I'm also mildly dyslexic, but I love words and I rarely make spelling mistakes nowadays. I don't have a great deal of knowledge about grammar, parts of speech etc, but my pocket dictionary is my friend and it's providing the info I don't have!
