Hi, this is my talk page. Feel free to post anything you'd like to discuss, or just a simple greeting. -- AnonymousDDoS (talk) 15:06, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Welcome!

Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contribution so far. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

  • How to edit a page is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.
  • Entry layout explained (ELE) is a detailed policy documenting how Wiktionary pages should be formatted. All entries should conform to this standard, the easiest way to do this is to copy exactly an existing page for a similar word.
  • Our Criteria for inclusion (CFI) define exactly which words Wiktionary is interested in including. There is also a list of things that Wiktionary is not for a higher level overview.
  • If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide to Wikipedia users useful.
  • The FAQ aims to answer most of your remaining questions, and there are several help pages that you can browse for more information.
  • We have discussion rooms in which you can ask any question about Wiktionary or its entries, a glossary of our technical jargon, and some hints for dealing with the more common communication issues.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! If you have any questions, bring them to the Wiktionary:Information desk, or ask me on my talk page. If you do so, please sign your posts with four tildes: ~~~~ which automatically produces your username and the current date and time.

Again, welcome! 50 Xylophone Players talk 13:50, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

brainfuck[edit]

Sorry, but Wiktionary is not censored (no. 9) so no matter how much you dislike seeing profanity included here, it will not be removed. 50 Xylophone Players talk 16:51, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Ah, I didn't see that when I was reading the getting started articles. This is my first time at Wiktionary, I came from Wikipedia. Anyway, it has no citations so I moved it to 'requests for verification'. Thanks! -- AnonymousDDoS (talk) 17:04, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

citations[edit]

Please, try citing things yourself, or make a list somewhere and maybe I or other users can work on it if you don't want to (you can make subpages of your user page like "User:<name>/Citation needed". I am removing rfv from Jython because it is clearly attestable and I will add a cite or two. 50 Xylophone Players talk 18:56, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, I will take note of that and make a list elsewhere. -- AnonymousDDoS (talk) 18:58, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, it's just that RFV is really only for cases where terms really seem to not exist or have very little visible evidence of usage, online, in books, etc. 50 Xylophone Players talk 19:10, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

stimulus package[edit]

Hey, just a friendly tip, for English nouns and such you use {{en-noun}} not {{en|noun}}. {{en-noun}}, {{en-adj}}, etc are the actual English POS templates for entries. {{en}} is just the actual language code template for English, which I imagine is transcluded by many templates. 50 Xylophone Players talk 13:48, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Ahhhh thanks for the clarification. I'll keep that one in mind for the future. -- AnonymousDDoS (talk) 15:13, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

balance of power[edit]

Don't forget that every entry must start with a ==language== header. Part of speech is at level 3, not level 2. You probably meant to use context rather than sense. Cheers SemperBlotto (talk) 16:53, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

THANKS! I totally forgot. Going back to edit my pages now. -- AnonymousDDoS (talk) 16:55, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

Citations[edit]

When adding citations please remember to add the page where the citation occurs, and, if known, the publisher. — Ungoliant (Falai) 20:53, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

Doh! No problem. I can go back and edit them sometime tomorrow. Thanks. - AnonymousDDoS (talk) 02:03, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
