User talk:Language Lover/instaglutination

Definition from Wiktionary, the free dictionary
Jump to: navigation, search

An interesting phenomenon I've seen is a tendency to combine "instant" with another word and drop the "ant": instant death -> instadeath. And to combine "permanent" with another word and drop "nent". From what evidence we have, right now this seems to be mostly done in video game lingo, with druggy lingo another leading contributor. It's very interesting because this kind of construction isn't seen much in English, usually when we combine two words, we keep both completely intact.

Most of the words below are still way too questionable for Wiktionary entries. Feel free to add any you find. They are sorted by # of hits at groups.google.com.
