welcome[edit]

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk (discussion) and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the beer parlour or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! Robert Ullmann 00:30, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(that's the standard message ;-) You may want to look at WT:AJ Robert Ullmann 00:30, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Related terms[edit]

Hi there,

Thanks for your contributions. :-)

Just so you know, Wiktionary uses the "Related terms" header for words that are related etymologically — words that come from the same root — not for words that are related semantically (by similarity in meaning). We use "Synonyms" and "Antonyms" headers to indicate semantic relationships (and sometimes "See also", when we can't find a better alternative); see WT:ELE.

Derived terms[edit]

As you can verify on the Wiktionary:Entry layout explained, we use the standard header ===Derived terms=== (note capitalization) rather than ===Derived Words=== on Wiktionary. We try to use standard headers so that errors in headers may be identified and corrected by 'bot. --EncycloPetey 00:39, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
