If you are going to add more Swedish words, then you really need to read Wiktionary:About Swedish first. Our pages have a structure that needs to be adhered to. That is why your first attempt was deleted. I include our standard welcome links. SemperBlotto 12:47, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome[edit]

Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.

If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.

These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:

  • Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
  • Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
  • Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
  • If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
  • If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
  • Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) which automatically produces your username and timestamp.
  • You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.

Enjoy your stay at Wiktionary!

You just deleted my own text, where I said I would adding new words. Where is it, and why can't I see in my contribution page either? Don't delete a whole talk page just to place your own response, even if you are an admin Teemu Milto 12:51, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comments in declension tables[edit]

If you want a standard comment to be included with every use of a particular template, then it should be included in the template. As an example see the French -ir verb template {{fr-conj-ir}} - as used e.g. in régir. SemperBlotto 12:53, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I used

From Swedish Wikipedia. "Lake (Lota lota) är en torskartad fisk som förekommer på norra halvklotet. Den är den enda lakearten i Europa, samt den enda sötvattenslevande torskartade fisken." i.e. our original entry was correct - reinstating. SemperBlotto 13:41, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Problems[edit]

I think before you try to do any more serious editing, you need to look at WT:ELE. You need to learn to use templates properly, and you need to use the "Show preview" button to make sure that what you're doing isn't messing up something on the page. You need to ask for help if there's something you're unsure of.

Many templates have "documentation" pages that describe the use of the template, you can find that tab toward the top of the page. Check out Category:Swedish templates (and I suppose Category:Finnish templates if you want to contribute to Finnish. We have some very good Finnish editors like Hekaheka (talkcontribs) around if you'd like to ask them for guidance.)

The last I checked, a lot of our Swedish sections are a total mess, so any random entry might not be a good example of what to base your work on. My Swedish is pretty limited, but I have a basic grasp of inflectional morphology, and very good grasp of layout, formatting and template use, so if you're unsure of anything in Swedish formatting, ask me and I'll do what I can to help you out.

I'll also say that calling SemperBlotto a bully isn't going to win you any friends here. We're not like wikipedia. We have many fewer regular users to keep this place clean, so we usually tolerate very little mess. — [Ric Laurent]14:01, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
