Welcome[edit]

Zachol,

It looks like you took some time to read the help and formatting pages before you got started. Thank you! Here are some links to more help, should you need it. Keep up the good work. --Dvortygirl 21:59, 9 July 2005 (UTC)

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk (discussion) and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the beer parlour or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!

Joy[edit]

Joy. I have been welcomed.

Zachol, eh?

Wonder why usernames need capitalization...

Wikipedia links[edit]

I don't know why user names still need to be capitalized. We've noticed, though, and probably filed the bug somewhere.

You are linking Wikipedia correctly, thus: [[w:Article name|the text you want showing]]. If the Wikipedia article name is the same as the Wiktionary article name, {{wikipedia}} will produce a nice box with the link, as in the article unobtanium. You might also try {{wikipediapar|Batting average}} if you want such a box for another article title, such as bat a thousand, say. Finally, please consider whether it might be better to link to another article inside Wiktionary, even if that article isn't here yet.

And yes, you've been welcomed. I figure it's the least I can do to encourage newcomers to hang around and maybe try getting things right, and besides, you are, in fact, welcome. If you would rather be called something else, please fill in your user page and let us know what it is. Take care, --Dvortygirl 23:24, 9 July 2005 (UTC)

Signature[edit]

Gah! Preferences doesn't want to work.

Is there a way to check the little box that says "Raw signatures"? I have a good idea of how to work the thing when the box is checked, but it doesn't seem to want to be checked.

Also, tests:

zachol.

zachol

--zachol

Do these all link to the same thing?

Another test:

zachol | wikipedia_zachol

Just enter "zachol" in the box without checking anything. 24 00:21, 10 July 2005 (UTC)
