Vivarta (plural Vivartas)

  1. (philosophy, Indian mysticism) A turning or whirling.
  2. (philosophy, Indian mysticism) The cyclonic process of manifestation by which the one becomes the many. It is an essentially Vedantic concept of cosmogonic as well as psychologico-philosophical implications.
