- To many German-speakers, the Weihnachtsmann is a native, Anglo-Saxon (Germanic tribes of central and Northern Europe) figure, resented due to religious tensions. This feeling is met with particularly in those regions where children traditionally receive their Christmas presents from the Christkind.
