Wiktionary:Translations to be checked

Definition from Wiktionary, a free dictionary

Jump to: navigation, search

The category Category:Translations to be checked supersedes Category:Check translations. See Wiktionary:Cleanup and deletion elements.

Add a new request for an English example sentence.

Sometimes, translations are believed to be out of date, not verified or possibly incorrect. This typically happens because definitions have been reordered or reworded, or because new senses have been added but translations do not correspond anymore. Such translations get tagged "to be checked" and end up in the appropriate categories, ordered by language.

Pick your language of choice at Category:Translations to be checked to find all translations that need checking.

Note: not all languages are listed in Category:Translations to be checked. Specifically, languages that have only one remaining translation are removed from that category (and the sub-category page is usually marked for deletion). This keeps the above category mostly manageable, when supplemented by this page.

Please read Wiktionary:Translations to find our policies on translations.

Pages that have translations to be checked contain the template {{checktrans}} and are in Category:Check translations, which is not ordered by language.

[edit] Requests for lower protection

Due to a variety of factors, some articles end up semi-protected or completely protected from editing. If that causes a translation to be delayed, request protection lowering here.

[edit] Requests for English example sentences

As translators encounter ambiguous definitions, they should be added here, so that a native English speaker (or admin, or somebody) can enhance the entry, specifically with better example sentences. When an example has been added, please indicate it with a brief comment such as * '''Added.''' ~~~~ so further clarification can be requested if needed. This can happen for any word that needs to get translated, but typically, this pertains to entries that have pending translations to be checked.

translate to espanol will be? —This comment was unsigned.

I'm very sorry, but that isn't a grammatically correct sentence in English. In particular, guessing a first word for the first clause (Though, My, Your,) changes the possible meanings profoundly. Can you give more context of what you are asking for? --Connel MacKenzie 01:32, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Las memorias continúan sin cambiar, las caras ya no se mencionan. —Stephen 01:38, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Unless the requester made a mistake, 1. It's grammatically correct and 2. You're both misunderstanding it. He's using subjunctive/third person imperative, poetically. If you'd like, put the word "may" or "let" at the beginning. The translation here is indicative, and therefore incorrect; I'm not fluent in Spanish, but I think it should be: "¡la memoria continúe sin cambiar, caras ya no se mencionen!"
