Translations[edit]

Middle French[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Old French avancier, with the -d- added to reflect the Latin prefix ad- (which was an erroneous hypercorrection as the etymon for this term, ab ante, did not contain a -d-).

Verb[edit]

advancer

  1. to advance (to move forwards)

Conjugation[edit]

  • As parler except c becomes ç before a and o. May remain c in older manuscripts.
  • Middle French conjugation varies from one text to another. Hence, the following conjugation should be considered as typical, not as exhaustive.
