Etymology[edit]

From Ancient Greek ἀμίαντος (amíantos, undefiled), from ἀ- (a-, not) + μιαίνω (miaínō, I defile).

amianthus (usually uncountable, plural amianthuses)

  1. A type of asbestos with long, soft, thin fibers.
