Etymology[edit]

From Ancient Greek ἀναπόδοτον (anapódoton), alternative spelling of ἀνανταπόδοτον (anantapódoton), neuter of ἀνανταπόδοτος (anantapódotos), from ἀν- (an-, not) + ἀνταποδίδωμι (antapodídōmi, I give back, correspond with).
