From Ancient Greek ἀναπόδοτον (anapódoton), alternative spelling of ἀνανταπόδοτον (anantapódoton), neuter of ἀνανταπόδοτος (anantapódotos), from ἀν- (an-, “not”) + ἀνταποδίδωμι (antapodídōmi, “I give back, correspond with”).
