annulene (plural annulenes)

  1. (organic chemistry) Any monocyclic hydrocarbon, of general formula CnHn (where n is even), or CnHn+1 (where n is odd).

Usage notes[edit]

If n is greater than 6 (benzene) they are named [n]annulene e.g. [9]annulene.
