Etymology[edit]

A variant of anthem. The spelling and pronunciation may simply reflect th-stopping, but could possibly be a retention of the historical pronunciation of anthem (the modern pronunciation of anthem with /θ/ is a late spelling pronunciation).

Noun[edit]

ant'em (plural ant'ems)

  1. (music, Bahamas) A type of traditional Bahamian folk song derived from old slave music and Christian hymns.
