From Proto-Albanian *ors-o-tia, with the contraction of -ia- in ì, from Proto-Indo-European *ers- 'to move, be in motion'. Cognate to English race, Latin errāre (to roam, wander), Sanskrit ऋषि (ṛṣi, poet, profet).
