Etymology[edit]

Derived in humorous reference to frontal.

This word has begun to gain popular acceptance since appearing in the U.S. sitcoms Friends and Scrubs. An earlier example of its use was in the episode of the UK sitcom, Coupling - "The Cupboard of Patrick's Love" (Series 1, episode 6, first aired 16th June 2000).
